Testosterone Deficiency in Women

Testosterone deficiency is not talked about amongst women. It's not something we read about in social media or is routinely checked for. We hear about androgen doping in body building and oestrogen and progesterone HRT for women. Though there is a lack of information and support for women with testosterone deficiency.

Low testosterone lowers mood, libido and muscle growth and can therefore lead to relationship breakdowns with not only partners but also extended family members, friendships and work colleagues.

This can be masked as depression, though a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor will not increase testosterone, nor will oestrogen and progesterone HRT. Testosterone produces oestrogen, not the other way round.

There is medical, lifestyle and nutritional support available. Have a read of the article below, based on scientific research at the University of Boston.
